TS2 Basement Help?

I'm trying to build a house in TS2 with a basement, but a brighter basement. (Hopefully it will be easy use when playing as well.) Plasticbox has an article on basements and notes that if the foundation is 7 clicks higher, then the basement will have full light. You can find their notes here. I believe there is an example of the house here. Backerbse tried to help me, but I'm still just not getting it.

I'm wondering if someone can help me with the process? I was able to build a basement the way I liked, but then the foundation ended up being so high that I couldn't cover the floor and make it a house. I'd appreciate any help!! :)
